Our approach: produce less and better
In recent years, the fashion world has become increasingly aware of the problems of overproduction.
The umbrella is probably the most emblematic accessory of this phenomenon, especially the mini umbrella, which is almost a symbol of our habits of disposable over-consumption.
In France and throughout the world, we are still all too used to buying a poor-quality umbrella, breaking it or losing it, and replacing it with another ‘disposable’ umbrella. Hundreds of millions of poor-quality umbrellas are produced every year.
ANATOLE wants to reverse this trend by fighting overproduction and overconsumption.
100% recycled fabric (rPET)
After extensive resistance testing, in 2023 we began the production of our new eco-responsible fabric: produced from 100% recycled materials (mainly rPET from used bottles), it ticks all the boxes in terms of quality while enabling us to reduce our impact on the environment.
The aim of this considerable development is to combat the pollution caused by plastic waste and, as a result, to help reduce the exploitation of landfill resources.
Our new fabrics have obtained Global Recycled Standard certification (a process certified by INTERTEK).
This is currently the world’s most advanced standard for recycled components.p>
Committed partners and responsible sourcing
We have chosen to work with the world’s leading manufacturer of folding mini and micro umbrella frames. All the know-how involved in the manufacture of telescopic mini umbrella frames is located in China, and our factory is certified to ISO 9001 and the TÜV Rheinland code of conduct (an organisation that carries out audits to measure the eco-responsibility of international companies).
We also attach great importance to the fact that our suppliers are local companies and, above all, that they take a responsible approach. We have our displays made in France using French or European wood, our website is hosted on French servers, our logistics platform has a truly eco-responsible approach with a policy of using almost no plastic and the vast majority of our marketing investments are entrusted to local companies.
How we choose our stockists and resellers?
It is crucial for Anatole to remain true to the spirit that has always driven us: to promote healthy (e-)commerce, where the incentive to frenetic consumption is banned.
We therefore create partnerships with retailers who contribute to responsible consumption and base these relationships on shared values. We give priority to ethically-minded sites and stores that, like us, love beautiful, high-quality products that are designed to last.
